STOP growing, Savannah!

We had an awesome Christmas! My whole family was up here and it was so fun to be at my parents cabin all together. Savannah had a great 1st Christmas...spoiled as always! We woke up at the cabin and had Christmas with my fam and then drove down to the valley to spend the rest of the day with the Chase's. It was perfect to have both families so close for the holidays!
Yep, that's my baby, the one crying with her head down...all this craziness exhausts her!

We figured out why we can't get a good picture of our "Savannah Smiles." Our camera is very delayed and a little red light comes on first, which is what distracts her and is why we get a stare. Maybe next Christmas I will ask for a new camera!
Anyway, this week, more than any other week, Josh and I have been amazed at how big Savannah is. She must have had a growth spurt or something. She is outgrowing all her clothes, eating everything, and playing with her toys like crazy. We are so in love with her...her huge smile, her giggles, her voice, her spastic excitement...everything about her is perfect! I can't believe she is already 5 months old. We can't get enough of her!

Merry Christmas!

I tried to get this cute picture as my "header" at the top. Didn't work out so well...someone will have to teach me one day! Anyway, I love this picture and I LOVE Savannah's Christmas outfit! You will have to excuse the hot pink bow. We did this last minute. I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays...it's been hard for us to get into Christmas this year, but we're trying. My whole family is coming up for a white Christmas. I am so excited (not for the white part!)
p.s. Savannah has slept through the night for the last 3 nights! Yahoo! I don't have my hopes up though, you never know with this little one...things are always changing!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Belated Thanksgiving...

Before I update you on our amazing Thanksgiving, I wanted to include a little photo shoot of my 4 1/2 month old...why is it that whenever I try to take her picture I get the face she is making in the top picture? She is not interested in the noises, songs, dances I do to try to get her to smile...she is only interested in the flash/silver camera, and her favorite blanket. I swear she is the most smiley baby out there, I just need someone to help me distract her!

We went to California for Thanksgiving. I only took 3 pictures. Bummer! It was so much fun and the weather was to die for. There is nothing better then Josh spending 5 uninterrupted days with us. Thanksgiving morning we ran a 5k. Did I say ran? Maybe Josh did, but I walked most of it! I am so out of shape! Josh then went Jet-skiing and after we had Thanksgiving dinner. No wonder I am so out of shape...it was yummy.

The rest of our time was spent hanging out with the family, both mine and Josh's, celebrating my Birthday and playing with our baby girl!
Funny story...Josh's mom, aunt and I were shopping in Santa Monica with Savannah on me in the front carrier. I guess women in CA aren't around babies very often because over 15 people stopped to look at her. They especially wanted to know how I got that bow to stick to her bald head. I made comment after the 3rd person stopped me, but by the 20th we were laughing so hard. It was like she had never been out in public before. Babies in Utah just aren't that special I guess!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for everything we have...now on to Christmas...can't wait!

4 MONTHS!

I can't believe our baby girl is 4 months! Time is flying by! We went to her 4 month appointment yesterday and here are her stats...
Weight: 15 lbs 2 ozs (88%)
Height: 24 1/2 inches (52%)
The best part about the appt. was that we can start her on rice cereal! That is music to a mothers ears when her baby doesn't take a bottle! We had fun with it last night...she is definitely interested, but doesn't really get it. She still prefers her hands!
We love you Savannah!

WOW!

So, my friend Natalie had this on her blog...how inspiring...a must read prop. 8 supporters...

Elder Neal A. Maxwell, BYU Devotional 1978

"Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions. President Marion G. Romney said, many years ago, that he had 'never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life.' "This is hard doctrine, but it is particularly vital doctrine in a society which is becoming more wicked. In short, brothers and sisters, not being ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ includes not being ashamed of the prophets of Jesus Christ. . . . Your discipleship may see the time when such religious convictions are discounted. . . . This new irreligious imperialism seeks to disallow certain opinions simply because those opinions grow out of religious convictions.

"Resistance to abortion will be seen as primitive. Concern over the institution of the family will be viewed as untrendy and unenlightened.... Before the ultimate victory of the forces of righteousness, some skirmishes will be lost. Even in these, however, let us leave a record so that the choices are clear, letting others do as they will in the face of prophetic counsel. There will also be times, happily, when a minor defeat seems probable, but others will step forward, having been rallied to rightness by what we do. We will know the joy, on occasion, of having awakened a slumbering majority of the decent people of all races and creeds which was, till then, unconscious of itself. Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves, 'summer is nigh.' Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat."

Halloween!

Caden and Savannah...best buds already...probably because we make them look at eachother all the time!
We had a fun Halloween! Doesn't Savannah make the cutest pumpkin? We woke up and went to Cottonwood Elementary to see old friends and enjoy the Halloween festivities with a bunch of crazy dressed up kids. It was so good to see everyone!
On Halloween night we had a family party at Josh's parents house and then last night we went to a party without Savannah where Josh and I dressed up...no pictures, bummer...you will just have to enjoy our little pumpkin!

What do you think?

MEGAN
So the majority of people have thought that Savannah looks like me...she does, but we just saw this picture of Josh for the first time and think she is a pretty good mix...what do you think?JOSH

Savannah's 1st Vacation

Early Friday morning we flew to California. I didn't sleep the whole night hoping everything would go well for Savannah's first plane ride. Luckily I had Adrienne with me! The plane ride was a success...Savannah always pulls through! The second we walked off the plane we noticed the beautiful weather that we were able to enjoy all week. We had so much fun!
Savannah met her "Grandpa" Mel. It is always good to visit with him. I was able to see a lot of old friends this trip and show off Savannah.

Savannah is so loved! Her cousins can't get enough of her! We swam, ate, and just hung out. She even got to go to Chuck e Cheese on her 3rd month birthday with her cousins!
(sorry for her nakedness, but it was too cute not to post)
We did lots more, but that is a summary of our vacation. I always wish I had taken more pictures. It was so fun to enjoy the warm weather and be with family...Josh isn't going to be able to keep me in Utah too much longer. I miss CA already. Thanks for such a fun trip everyone!

Snow...Already?!?

Today we woke up to lots of snow! I am so sad! We were going to have Savannah make her first snow angel, but we just took a picture instead. She really didn't know what to think. I am dreading this winter...good thing we leave for California this week!
This is a picture of our little turtle. I love getting Savannah up in the morning or from naps(yes, I know, I am a bad mom, she sleeps on her stomach) She is getting so strong now and holds her head up and bops around like a little turtle. She is almost 3 months old! Crazy!

2 month stats...

I know I've been posting a lot lately, don't get used to it! This picture doesn't do this amazing collage justice. My friend Holly, yes the same one who designed Savannah's announcement, made this for Savannah's room. I love it. Her room is almost complete...I just need cute stuff for her dresser...I've been saying that for 2 months now!

We went to the pediatrician the other day for Savannah's 2 month appt. She handled her shots okay...just a little fussy, but all the sleep is worth it! I felt so bad because she was so smiley with the doctor, and then bam, 3 jabs in the leg! She is a brave girl!
Height: 23 1/4 (75%)
Weight: 12 lbs 12 ozs (90%)

Caden is here!

Caden Kenneth Stallings*6lbs 9ozs*Sunday, Sept. 21st
Josh's sister Racquel had her baby on Sunday! We are so excited to have a cousin on the Chase side that is so close in age to Savannah! He is so cute and Racquel did so good...I just realized I was too excited to get pictures of the 2 cousins that I forgot to get one of just Caden. I love his hair! We look forward to many playdates!

2 months old...

I have been trying to catch Savannah smiling on camera for weeks now...today, on her 2 month birthday, she decided to be photogenic. Josh and I had so much fun getting her to smile for the camera! I think we have called her every nick name possible, but one that really sticks is "Savannah Smiles." When we tell people her name, even before she was born, many would refer to the movie "Savannah Smiles." From these pics you can see why this nick name suits her! She is so grown up...

Savannah's Blessing

We blessed Savannah on August 31, 2008. It turned out to be a great day. I don't know why I stressed out about it so much! My family all flew in for the long weekend. We had a great time at the cabin and Savannah was finally able to meet her Grandpa Clark and all of her cousins, aunts and uncles!
Josh gave an amazing blessing and I am so grateful for all the support we had from our family. Savannah is so lucky to have so many people that love her.
Her cute dress was made by her Great, Great Grandma's best friend and her bonnet was netted by her Great Great Grandma in 1940. Me, my mom, my aunts, sister, cousin, niece, and now Savannah have all been blessed in this outfit!

Savannah's Birth Annoucement...

I am finally starting to send Savannah's announcement out thanks to my friend Holly and the Bitners. I love it! It is so crazy how much she has already changed since her 2 week pictures. I will post pics of her blessing soon!

Savannah's 1st swim!

John and Nicole had one last summer bash to end the summer...they are always so great to plan things for everyone to get together!
Josh thought it would be fun to take Savannah swimming...I was a little hesitant at first, and so was she, as shown in the first pic!
After she got used to the water temperature, she loved it. I think she swallowed a little water, but it didn't seem to bother her. Luckily it was salt water, so it made me feel a little better that she wasn't taking in chlorine! We love our little fish!

ONE MONTH!!

Our baby girl is 1 month old today! This has been the hardest, fastest, slowest, most life changing, rewarding, exhausting and crazy month of my life! I think I finally am getting a hang of this stay at home mom thing, well sort of. If one thing, being a mom has made me way more emotional/sensitive/spiritual. I think it's not only because of my new little spirit, but because of all the time I have to ponder. I have also had to give up my stubbornness and rely on my Heavenly Father more than ever. I want to quote part of an amazing post I read from a fellow blogger that helped me after a particularly crazy day.

"...And for my own load, I am grateful. I don't wish to carry it-and sometimes I even resent it-but I see it is my own, and I will bear it with all the dignity and faith I can muster. And I can humbly testify that I don't carry it alone. I recognize that my Savior carries the greater part with me (and He sweetly sends me help through family and friends too), and I know that yoked with Him I am able to move through the mud, push up against the dirt and grow."

I wish I could write my thoughts as well as she can...I am extremely grateful for my many blessings, especially my new little family. Lets hope for many more great months to come!

3+ weeks...

First time to church, we made it through sacrament meeting and then went home. Yes, we all think we can get my cute girl to smile already! I think it's just a lot of gas! (Thanks for somewhat Indian giving that dress back Kim. Savannah had a minor blowout in it too!)
Not much new in the Chase home. It's true that now that I have a kid all I can think to blog about is Savannah. I wish I had other things to blog about, but all I do all day is hang out with her...I still have anxiety about leaving the house, but I am doing much better! Thanks to everyone who has come sat with me, helped me, and been there to talk to the last couple of weeks. It has really made things much easier. We are so blessed to have such a great support system. I am still booking appointments if you want to come up the mountain to hang out with us! Ha, Ha...

2 WEEKS!

I have been meaning to post for a long time...I still want to write about my whole delivery process. However, I couldn't wait to post these cute pictures! Aubrey Bolton took them last night at Wheeler Farm. She put a sneak peek on her blog, oursweetbabies.blogspot.com, but I can't wait to get the disc from her! Isn't my baby the cutest thing ever?! Check the rest out on her blog! Anyway, we just got back from Savannah's 2 week appt.
Here are some things new with her...I hope I don't jinx myself...
*She weighs 9 lbs. 14 ozs. (yep, she's gained over a pound in 2 weeks)
*She lost her umbilical cord on her 2 week b-day, in the parking lot right before her pics!
*Last night she slept from 10 pm to 4 am...

We love our baby girl!

Still here...

Just in case you were wondering, I am still here, 4 days past my due date! My induction is set up for Sunday night, but let's hope I go into labor before that! I'm doing good!

Saturday, July 12, 2008

It's my due date!

I am sure some of you can relate to my situation...still being pregnant on your due date! It is weird that I have been counting down for 9 months, day by day (with help from my blog baby tracker) and now I am at ZERO days! All week I have been thinking I have something important going on Saturday, but it is only because I have had July 12th in my mind forever! Let's see how long this lasts...I'll keep you posted! I'm still going strong...

UPDATE and a funny email my sister sent me...

So I am not progressing at all! I am going to be pregnant forever! Okay not really, but I don't want to be induced unless I absolutely have to so I am not scheduling an induction until the week of the 21st! However, if I am anything like my sister, I will go from not being dilated at all to full blown fast labor within days...so who knows!
I hope this little story doesn't offend anyone...I thought it was so funny!

Grandmas Don't Know Everything
Little Tony had been playing outside with the other kids for a while. He came into the house and asked, 'Grandma, what's that thing called when two people sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?"
She was a little taken aback, but she decided to just tell him the truth. "It's called sexual intercourse, darling." Little Tony just said, 'Oh, OK,' and went back outside to play with the other kids.
A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily, "Grandma, it isn't called sexual intercourse. It's called Bunk Beds. And Jimmy's mom wants to talk to you."

A weekend of freedom...

So this past weekend Josh and I celebrated our freedom in many ways. We not only celebrated the freedom we enjoy by living in such a great country, but we also celebrated what might be our last weekend of freedom without children!
On Thursday night we went and stayed at Zermatt in Heber City. We had the bell boy take a pic. right after we checked out. We just relaxed, went to the pool, slept in, etc. However, Josh did try to convince me to go to the gym with him...hello? I am 9 months pregnant...that did not sound fun, but I did end up giving in and walked on the treadmill slowly! After, we had a bbq at Josh's parents house and then we all went to the Bee's game. We went last year as well...it's a great way to spend the 4th! I love that holiday! I just love summertime! We also went and saw our last movie for awhile...Get Smart...I would give it a "B"...it was pretty funny.
To top off a great weekend, I cooked Cafe Rio salads today...YUMMY!
6 days until my due date! Crazy! I will post what my doctor says at my Wednesday appt! We are getting anxious and I am melting away daily. Other than that I am feeling great!
